Tragically, in the summer of 2020, Muse Group took control of what had previously been a two-decades long open source audio manipulation project. To avenge this immaculate con act, we are creating Pertinacity.

Pertinacity is an audio playback and manipulation software that serves as an alternative to “Audacity”. At its core, it will be able to pick up audio devices and capture sound from (hopefully) at least one platform configuration.

Using JavaFX, we hope to create a user interface that allows the user to rapidly record audio and save the audio. In addition, the user should be able to play audio of a variety of formats, such as mp3 and wav.

Reliance on platform agnostic utilities is of a high priority; we aim to distribute the program in a file that can run anywhere.
